Paul Marinovich a local community hero

IT is the little things one does that go a long way – and for Mirrabooka butcher Paul Marinovich this is a rule he lives by.

The owner of Adrian’s Continental Smallgoods, who is not only known for his cheerful disposition and award-winning snags, has also been rated as a local hero by his community.

The humble father of three said he was shocked to be placed in the category of a local hero but was humbled to know people thought of him in such high regard.

“I’m shocked to be honest; I don’t know how this has happened,” he said.

“It’s not from trying to be a hero, it’s just doing what I do.”

Mr Marinovich donates more than 200 sausages each year to the Beachway C3 Church’s Easter Egg Hunt Day as well as helping out with various community groups. He said he helped wherever he could, and had learnt the art of giving from his father.

“My father always taught me money is not important, people are important,” he said. “There is too much focus on the dollar rather than the people and I think it was those words of wisdom from my dad that has enabled me to help out in the community where I can. I just wish I could do more,” he said.

Community Newspaper Group ran a Local Heroes competition, with the people who make a difference to their local communities honoured last Tuesday night at a special movie event.
